Well the answer lies in Obfuscation. It is a method to prevent your application from being reverse engineered. It makes the code of your application in unreadable form when it is viewed in any reflection tool. You will find many obfuscator tool, but some of them are not free and others are not ease at use. I do some search over the net and found a totally free and reliable tool for obfuscating my applications and libraries. This free obfuscating tool can be downloaded from here. The version here supports obfuscations for .NET framework 3.5 and for .NET framework 4.0, well we have to wait for the final release as it is still in beta but can be downloaded from here.
Until now our code was .NET 4.0 and .NET 4.5 and Dotfuscator just worked. As a consequence an older version of Dotfuscator was sufficient. However we migrated to .NET 4.7.2, .NET 5/6/7 and .NET Standard and we needed an up-to-date obfuscator that can handle the latest .NET flavors. Dotfuscator can certainly do that (not verified). However in 2021 they changed their subscription price policy with a 25% increase every year with no real added value and there seems to be no upper limit. In the end that literally multiplies the yearly fee we used to pay for a decade.
Unfortunately despite trying hard we never succeeded in generating a bug-free version of our code. It has some well known flaws like throwing some TypeLoadException on some overriden methods that we were experiencing. This other issue also was a blocker unless we accepted to not obfuscate all our enums.

You put all your effort and time to create an excellent .NET application. But using disassemblers any one can easily generate back full source code of your application from the assemblies/libraries.
Eazfuscator.NET is an excellent obfuscator for .NET platform, protects your code, without breaking it.Eazfuscator.NET support .NET Framework versions 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5. Support is there for Silver light, Windows phone 7 applications etc.
It's not faith. It's more like that its the only thing you can do. Legal options are good in 1st world countries, but in latin america copyright protection laws are a joke. I'm fully awared of what an obfuscator does and what it doesn't, but at least will make it a lot harder for a hacker to reuse my code for his own profit. At the end, its better than nothing don't you agree?
Starting with the .NET Framework version 2.0, this method returns security attributes on types, methods, and constructors if the attributes are stored in the new metadata format. Assemblies compiled with version 2.0 or later use the new format. Dynamic assemblies and assemblies compiled with earlier versions of the .NET Framework use the old XML format. See Emitting Declarative Security Attributes.

Microsoft .NET Framework runtime includes everything you need to run existing apps and programs built with .NET Framework. This version of the .NET Framework runs side-by-side with the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and earlier versions, but it performs an in-place update for .NET Framework versions 4 to 4.7.2.
